June was the month when TARGET Executive Search CEE had its first ‘live’ meeting after more than 2 years. An important venue, both for discussing further business strategies and for ‘tightening our bonds’ as a Group & having fun together.
For our BG & RO Team, it was even more significant, as we got back to the usual and much preferred face-to-face meetings for the first time after the lockdown period.
Bianca, Camelia and I (Felicia) – had been working remotely exclusively since March 2020, as TARGET could offer us the necessary flexibility - through policies, systems and its culture of trust - to perform our job practically from anywhere. And this has been highly appreciated and valued.
Besides, this meeting stands out for us because we welcomed back as a new colleague an old teammate - Rumyana - who rejoined TARGET after 6 years, with the same spirit (wit) and commitment to excellent performance.
I’ve asked Rumyana about the ‘differences’ she sees after 6 years in our work and on the labour market in BG & RO, and here are some of her impressions:

Bulgarian recruitment market impressions
“The Bulgarian market is slower-paced in comparison to the Romanian, but the principles are similar in both countries, not unlike in the past: the excellent candidates are scarce and usually their employers hang on to them. Yet with the right approach you may arouse their curiosity and interest to talk to you and see if there’s a real opportunity for them. The same old tricks but at a different speed and in a new setup. What’s more, employers seem to be more eager to find the perfect match and despite the current talent shortage, we see some openness to consider, unexpectedly more often than not, the potential that a candidate could bring in.”
